Weekly Forecast: May 12 – 18, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: If you need to take steps to get your financial house in order, this is the week to do so as the Sun and Venus in Taurus harmonize with Jupiter and Uranus. In addition, Jupiter harmonizes with Saturn and Uranus through November. These planetary energies are offering support to help you with finances, health, work and professional matters, so take a new approach and make changes while the energies are easy!
  • Stockmarket: It’s interesting that Wednesday’s CPI report and oil inventories will be released on the day the Sun challenges Neptune, an alignment that has a tendency to turn the market negative on inflation concerns. Oil and other commodities tend to make larger moves under this aspect, but the moves are not always bullish.

Monday, May 12, 2008

  • General Influences: The work week might get off to a slower start with the Leo Moon VOC* from 4:09 AM until mid afternoon. Catch up on routine matters and prepare for opportunities for action later today. The Sun in Taurus harmonizes with Jupiter in Capricorn. After the Moon enters detailed Virgo at 2:48 PM, it’s a good time to discuss financial matters with superiors. The Virgo Moon harmonizes with Pluto in Capricorn which further enhances the importance of presenting your work to influential people. Additional work matters or responsibilities could delay dinnertime tonight.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/mixed to moderately positive.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon in Virgo emphasizes work and relations with coworkers. People have a greater tendency to be more critical, so don’t take it personally. With the Moon challenging Mercury in Gemini early this evening, talking too much or gossiping could cause trouble. By the end of the day, people are in a loving and mellow mood.
  • Stockmarket: Lackluster; choppy/mixed between moderately negative to positive.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

  • General Influences: Any sudden change of plans will probably work out for the best early this morning. It’s important to stay grounded in common sense today as Neptune in Aquarius challenges the Taurus Sun. Accomplish all action-oriented tasks before the Virgo Moon becomes VOC at 12:38 PM. Moon enters Libra at 11:46 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Strong moves most likely to downside as inflation is a concern. Oil will probably make a strong move.

Thursday, May 15, 2008

  • General Influences: Cooperation and teamwork are highlighted as there’s a greater need to reach out to others when the Moon is in Libra, the sign of partnerships.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy; negative bias.

Friday, May 16, 2008

  • General Influences: This morning is a terrific time to share your thoughts with others. TGIF gets celebrated in a big way with the Moon challenging Jupiter this evening. People feel optimistic and want to share their enthusiasm with friends and loved ones. Libra Moon becomes VOC at 11:29 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/mixed, ranging from moderately negative to positive.

Weekend: May 17-18, 2008

  • Saturday: With the Moon VOC, there’s a tendency to take a leisurely approach until the Moon enters Scorpio at 10:59 AM. Aspects from Pluto and Saturn provide the opportunity to eliminate items you no longer need, or come up with new ways to use them. This is also a good time to do research or work on more complex matters. A disagreement might arise over what to do this evening. There’s a tendency to be more impatient now.
  • Sunday: There’s a desire to do something different today, as well a sense of generosity and optimism as Venus in Taurus favorably aspects Uranus and harmonizes with Jupiter.

*VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything where NO ACTION OR SPECIFIC OUTCOME is desired, as actions taken during the VOC period might not turn out as planned.

Weekly Forecast: May 5 – 11, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: It’s a new week and a New Moon cycle. Resolve to make a fresh start in financial matters. Determine what you really value in life and work on making your finances reflect that! Jupiter in Capricorn energies are strong this week as the planetary energy of optimism and expansion is moving retrograde on Friday. (Planets do not really move backwards, but appear to from Earth’s vantage point.) The Taurus New Moon harmonizing with Jupiter is making the effort easier now, so don’t waste the opportunity. Mars enters Leo on Friday, boosting self-confidence .
  • Stockmarket: As stated in last week’s forecast summary, Jupiter in Capricorn moving stationary retrograde this week will put an optimistic spin on equities. It looks to be a predominantly positive week. The 10 yr closed Friday at 3.845%, higher than before the Fed lowered 25 bp, shows that the market is more concerned about inflation than Bernanke. With his Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Sagittarius, Bernanke is ruled by Jupiter. According to yesterday’s Financial Times, Bernanke is trying to expand the Fed’s horizons into the business of the ECB and SNB in an effort to lower the US$ Libor rate that so many US loans are based on.

Monday, May 5, 2008

  • General Influences: The week gets off to a slow and steady start with the Taurus New Moon at 8:18 AM. The early evening is a good time to work on financial planning. Imagination soars later this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Positive bias.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

  • General Influences: Taurus Moon becomes VOC at 4:22 AM*. Get moving when the Moon enters Gemini at 7:17 AM; there’s a lot of work to be done! Everyone has something to say later this afternoon when the Moon conjoins Mercury in Gemini.
  • Stockmarket: Market reverses around 10:00 AM, begins climbing.

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

  • General Influences: Each day of the week is ruled by a planetary energy, and Wednesdays are ruled by Mercury, Gemini’s ruler. Communications and your local environment are emphasized. There’s a degree of restlessness that builds as the day goes on that can only be satisfied by doing something different. Something you hear or read this evening might be just the inspiration you need. Gemini Moon becomes VOC at 9:37 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/mixed; negative bias.

Thursday, May 8, 2008

  • General Influences: After all the talking and running around, there’s a desire to retreat back to home sweet home when the Moon enters Cancer at 7:02 AM. However, professional demands take priority this morning. It’s an opportunity to catch up on paperwork and minute details.
  • Stockmarket: Mildly positive.

Friday, May 9, 2008

  • General Influences: With Jupiter moving retrograde and Mars entering Leo later today, people tend to feel more optimistic now. The afternoon to early evening is a good time to accomplish domestic duties, or prepare for company this evening. Cancer Moon is VOC at 8:06 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Positive.

Weekend: May 10-11, 2008

  • Saturday: The Moon enters Leo at 9:10 AM. People might be a bit moody and temperamental this morning, but that is the only “cloud” in an otherwise emotionally “sunny” day.
  • Sunday: Happy Mother’s Day, Mom (and to all Mothers)! A day to celebrate Mothers is nice (for businesses), but Mom likes to know you care on other days too! (Of course, it depends on your relationship with Mom, and I consider myself to be a very fortunate daughter.) With the Moon in Leo challenging Venus, Mothers will enjoy being treated like royalty. That doesn’t mean spending a lot (or anything), but giving her your attention.

*VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything where NO ACTION OR OUTCOME is desired, as actions taken during the VOC period might not turn out as planned.

Weekly Forecast: April 28 – May 4, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

General Influences: Be sure to double check schedules and travel plans Friday and Saturday as Mercury, the planetary energy of communication and movement, will challenge stationary Saturn in Virgo. This can manifest as delays in communications and travel, so allow extra time. Saturn’s energies of caution, fear, and contraction will dominate from Tuesday through May 6 as this planet stations and begins to move forward again. Work-related projects that had reached a standstill might begin to move again. (Saturn went retrograde on December 19, 2007. Planets do not really move backwards but appear to from Earth’s vantage point.)

Stockmarket: With the 2 year Treasury at 2.50% and Fed funds futures pricing in a 74% chance Bernanke & Co. will lower 25bp on Wednesday, I concur with market sentiment that the Fed is winding down the rate cuts. Venus in Taurus harmonizing with the Federal Reserve’s Pluto reflects the Fed still desires to be mildly accommodative. Mars in Cancer conjoins the Fed’s Neptune. The statement is likely to convey the Fed is ready to focus their attention more on inflation. (If the Fed really wants to incite a market rally, they need to raise rates. After all, this would fit in with the Fed’s rosy second half of the year outlook.)

With Saturn, the planetary energy of caution and fear stationary direct on Friday for the employment report and challenging Mercury, I would expect that the market’s reaction to the report will not be favorable. The media are likely to be reporting more tales of economic doom and gloom Friday and Saturday.

With Jupiter stationary later next week, happy days may be (temporarily) here again.

Monday, April 28, 2008

  • General Influences: The week begins with the Moon in quirky Aquarius. Mercury in Taurus harmonizes with Jupiter in Capricorn, boosting confidence to successfully get your point across in a professional situation. The Last Quarter Moon occurs at 10:12 AM. People tend to stubbornly cling to their opinions. This is a good time to run security and anti-virus and spyware software on your computer. Be extra careful at this time for malware, viruses, and suspicious email.
  • Stockmarket: Any early session enthusiasm is likely to wane as the day progresses; inflation concerns creep in.

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

  • General Influences: With Mercury challenging Neptune, read the fine print very carefully! Don’t sign or make a commitment unless you thoroughly understand it and intuitively feel comfortable. On the plus side, these planetary energies can provide creative inspiration. People tend to feel more sensitive and a bit nervous in the afternoon. Busy Mercury meets Mars in Cancer, providing an opportunity to serve up some good conversation at the dinner table.
  • Stockmarket: Inflation concerns are likely to be at the forefront again. Market might be strongest around 3:00 PM.

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

  • General Influences: Aquarius Moon becomes VOC* at 1:25 AM. The Moon enters Pisces at 2:11 AM. Venus enters Taurus until May 24. Venus is “at home” in Taurus, a sign that appreciates natural beauty. Venus here goes at a slower pace, showing her sensual side. (Attention Retailers: Venus in this sign demands value for money and will stubbornly refuse to spend if the price is too high.) Venus harmonizes with Pluto in Capricorn highlighting financial and debt issues. Today and tomorrow is a good time to consult with a seasoned professional regarding money matters. This evening is meant for relaxation and tuning out the external world.
  • Stockmarket: Lackluster to mixed.

Thursday, May 1, 2008

  • General Influences: Venus harmonizing with Saturn can be a time of romantic commitment. Spending time with parents or elders proves enjoyable.
  • Stockmarket: Negative.

Friday, May 2, 2008

  • General Influences: Pisces Moon becomes VOC at 5:34 AM, followed by fast-acting Aries Moon at 6:51 AM. Mercury enters Gemini until July 10. Communication and mental activity go into overdrive. Mercury is spending a lot of time in its “home” sign due to moving retrograde from May 26 until June 19. (I will be posting more about Mercury shortly.) Saturn moves direct late this evening – not fast enough for the Moon in Aries.
  • Stockmarket: Negative. See NOTE under Sunday’s forecast.

Weekend: May 3-4, 2008

  • Saturday: Mercury in Gemini challenges Saturn which might put the brakes on accomplishing everything an Aries Moon and winged messenger Mercury would like to do. Watch a tendency to overindulge/overspend this evening. Happy Birthday, Daddy!
  • Sunday: Aries Moon becomes VOC at 3:16 AM. With the Moon entering Taurus at 7:58 AM, it’s time to slow down the pace for a leisurely Sunday. If that’s not your thing, the Moon is harmonizing with Pluto and Saturn this morning. Doing chores now will not seem like a chore. The Moon conjoins Venus this afternoon. Take time to stop and smell the flowers; enjoy! NOTE: For those of you following the markets over the weekend, transiting Mars opposing the USA Pluto raises the possibility there could be action today involving a bank. Obviously it would not be a precedent for the Fed to act before 8:00 PM tonight.

Weekly Forecast: April 21 – 27, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: If you’re looking to accomplish a lot of detailed and tedious work with less effort, Monday is the day. Midweek energies tend to go a bit overboard. Friday’s energies favor promoting yourself and your business through networking or group interaction.
  • Stockmarket: Midweek aspects between Venus (financial values) and Mars (action) to Jupiter will likely see the return of volatility and big point market moves. Look for more signs of out of control global inflation.

Monday, April 21, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Sun in Taurus harmonizing with Saturn in Virgo, today is a good day to work on anything that requires a high level of detail and discipline. The Moon in Scorpio assists to make sure nothing gets overlooked. Energy levels run strong well into the late evening as the Moon harmonizes with Mars in Cancer. Intuitive energies are strong.
  • Stockmarket: Upward bias, but any news concerning bond insurers/ratings/government and pension funds could make the market jittery and turn it choppy/mixed to negative.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 (Earth Day)

  • General Influences: Dreams just before dawn this morning might have been so vivid that it could be difficult to get up and get going. Scorpio Moon becomes VOC at 4:54 AM* until entering Sagittarius at 5:07 PM. Mars in Cancer harmonizing with Uranus in Pisces can make it easy to accomplish all those odds ‘n ends that tend to get pushed aside. Doing “ho hum” tasks can bring forth the most inspiring ideas to help yourself and the Earth - today and every day. Despite the Moon being in outgoing Sagittarius, the high activity level of the past two days might begin to catch up this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/lackluster with positive tendency the result of buying on the belief the government will take further action to help the economy.

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon in Sagittarius and planetary alignments between Venus, Mars, and Jupiter (Sagittarius’s ruler), are bound to make life interesting today and tomorrow. Sudden attractions or sudden flare-ups between romantic partners can occur as Venus challenges Mars today. Venus in Aries (a sign ruled by Mars) tends to act impulsively. Venus also challenges Jupiter in Capricorn; there’s a tendency to overindulge/overspend. Whether it’s a romantic interest, a product, or something to eat, the pursuit usually ends up being more satisfying than the acquisition.
  • Stockmarket: Volatility should increase today and tomorrow as the market is likely to make large moves. A more negative bias for most of the day might be due to more financial write downs.

Thursday, April 24, 2008

  • General Influences: With Mars opposing Jupiter, people tend to get emotionally fired up about what they think, particularly “hot button” issues. There’s a tendency to act bold in front of others. Optimism and a “can do” attitude run high - and so do expectations. Career and family matters are most affected, so be careful about stating goals/making promises you can’t keep. People are so energized, they might end up tripping over themselves. Be careful. Soothing energies between the Moon, Venus, and Neptune later this afternoon bring loved ones and/or friends together. Sagittarius Moon becomes VOC at 5:38 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Likely to be down early in session on financial or geopolitical news. Starts reversing towards midday. May drift down again, and then begin to improve near 3:30 PM.

Friday, April 25, 2008

  • General Influences: After the Moon in Sagittarius, the outlook becomes more realistic when the Moon enters Capricorn at 5:47 AM. The Moon conjoining Pluto early this morning might prompt a way to resurrect a “dead” idea or project component into a useable form. Maybe you can enlist the assistance of your coworkers to help. Favorable energies between Venus and Neptune provide an opportunity to network with others.
  • Stockmarket: Market improves as morning progresses. Likely peaks in early afternoon.

Weekend: April 26-27, 2008

  • Saturday: If you need to bring work home this weekend, today and tomorrow evening are the most productive times, especially for writing and communicating.
  • Sunday: A disagreement might arise among family members early this morning. Capricorn Moon becomes VOC at 10:18 AM. The Moon enters Aquarius at 5:27 PM. With Mercury in Taurus aspecting Uranus (Aquarius’s ruler), inventive ideas might be financially viable.

Weekly Forecast: April 14 – 20, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days for getting serious work done. Friday is an excellent time for business communications and social networking.
  • Stockmarket: The market looks like it will make a big effort to try to keep to a more positive bias despite GE’s big earnings disappointment Friday. However, as I had stated in many prior forecasts and Moon cycle reports, the overall trend of the market is volatile, with days of big up or down movement (or in many instances both). Planetary alignments the second half of next week might result in big downward moves. Whitney Tilson aptly points out in a column in yesterday’s Financial Times (“Let the herd stampede first before making your move”): “With total financial company writedowns worldwide at a bit over $200bn to date, we may only be 20% of the way there.” (Tilson is referring to a UBS analyst who thinks total losses from the debt bubble could be $1,000bn.) As Mercury and the Sun move into Taurus later this week, it will be harder for CEOs and the government to convince analysts and investors that a brighter horizon is just around the corner. As April reaches its close, earth energies will dominate. And when this element is running the show, caution and accountability tend to prevail as hype is too expensive. (Are you reading this, Messrs. Bernanke, Geithner, and Paulson?) :-)

Monday, April 14, 2008

  • General Influences: There’s a need to bring the lightheartedness of the weekend into the workweek with the Moon in Leo. With Mercury in Aries aspecting Neptune in Aquarius, there’s an opportunity to share your views and interests with others of a like mind. Hobbies and creative endeavors are particularly enjoyable this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Up early in session. Becomes choppy to negative as day progresses. Might see improvement approaching the close.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

  • General Influences: The Leo Moon becomes VOC* at 12:56 AM. Energies become more serious when the Moon enters detail-oriented Virgo at 9:07 AM. The next couple of days are a good time to accomplish errands and detail-oriented tasks that might have gotten pushed aside. This morning is a good time to deal with any work issues that have previously been kept under the radar. A heavy schedule/workload could curtail any lunch time plans. People are inclined to be a bit critical now. With the Sun and Mercury conjoined in Aries, people will not hesitate to let you know what’s on their mind.
  • Stockmarket: Market strongest in the late morning. Begins to weaken in late afternoon.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

  • General Influences: Use the Virgo Moon to really plough through the details as the Moon will be VOC all day tomorrow. The Moon in Virgo also emphasizes cultivating a healthy mind and body. Trying a new recipe/incorporating new food for dinner followed by a walk, might be enjoyable this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Down, on economic/financial news.

Thursday, April 17, 2008

  • General Influences: Virgo Moon becomes VOC at 1:59 AM until early evening. Mercury enters Taurus late this afternoon until May 2. People tend to be more subdued in communicating now. For salespeople, it’s important to emphasize the value of your product/service. Don’t be pushy. People might need more time to think through decisions and tend to be more stubborn when the planetary energy of communication sojourns in this sign. The Moon enters Libra at 6:10 PM. A conflict might arise this evening between personal and professional commitments.
  • Stockmarket: Mostly negative to lackluster. Choppy to slightly up in afternoon.

Friday, April 18, 2008

  • General Influences: It’s not just the anticipation of the weekend as the reason why people call this TGIF. Each day of the week resonates to a particular planetary energy, and Friday is ruled by Venus. With the Moon in Venus-ruled Libra, people tend to want to especially engage in social pleasantries today, and perhaps spruce up the office with some flowers. Mercury, newly inhabiting Venus-ruled Taurus, is harmoniously aligning with Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Virgo today. This is a terrific time to have discussions with subordinates, coworkers and supervisors about budgetary manners. The Moon in Libra is the time to make yourself and your life beautiful.
  • Stockmarket: Mostly up/choppy to lower; might show improvement in afternoon.

Weekend: April 19-20, 2008

  • Saturday: Some people may act like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, with the Moon challenging Mars in Cancer. If you know you’ve got a tendency to overspend or overindulge, maybe it’s best to stay away from the mall around midday today. The Sun enters Taurus early this afternoon until May 20. There’s a tendency to go at a slower pace, to take the time to fully engage our senses, nature and our physical environment. It’s time to get comfortable – emotionally, physically, and especially financially. With the Libra Moon harmonizing with Neptune in Aquarius before becoming VOC at 4:55 PM, getting together with friends or participating in group activities is especially enjoyable.
  • Sunday: The Moon enters Scorpio at 5:00 AM, shortly followed by the Full Moon at 6:25 AM. The Full Moon in Scorpio can be the most emotionally intense (and usually wet weather) Full Moon of the year. For the most part, today’s energies are pretty positive. The Sun in Taurus harmonizes with Pluto (Scorpio’s ruler). It’s easy to go beyond the superficial now and see what’s below the surface. A disagreement might arise with another later this afternoon/early evening over financial matters.

Weekly Forecast: April 7 – 13, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: This week’s focus is on putting plans formulated at the New Moon into action. Wednesday and Thursday are the most active days of the work week.
  • Stockmarket: Last Friday’s lackluster response to a much weaker than expected jobs report reinforces that the fire triplicity Put is in place. Despite this, the market still seems to be reluctant to let the bull completely out of the pen with earnings season about to begin. The biggest market moves are likely to occur on Thursday.

Monday, April 7, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon begins the week in solid and steady Taurus – a good grounding energy to begin work on new projects. The early evening is a good time to take a walk or do some gardening. (With the Moon increasing in light, and in this Venus ruled sign, it’s a good time to plant flowering plants and bushes.)
  • Stockmarket: Down, especially financials. Might show improvement at midday to early afternoon, but likely weakens again.

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

  • General Influences: Accomplish action-oriented tasks this morning as the Taurus Moon becomes VOC* at 11:13 AM until this evening. The best time to conduct business is the early morning hours. Things might become a bit confusing later this morning, so it’s probably better to talk face to face or over the phone rather than online or texting. Being comfortable on the couch is over when the Moon enters Gemini at 9:27 PM. The Moon here needs to be emotionally connected.
  • Stockmarket: Market weakest in the late morning. Improving conditions late in session.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

  • General Influences: We’re out and about and multitasking under the Gemini Moon. The energies of the Sun in Aries challenging Jupiter in Capricorn are strong today and tomorrow. People tend to be more confident and optimistic now, especially concerning professional matters. The early evening is a good time for all forms of communication.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/negative on inflation concerns.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

  • General Influences: Get on the move early this morning before the Moon becomes VOC at 12:11 PM. Pay extra attention to what your intuition is telling you today. Mercury in Aries challenges Mars in Cancer today. It’s easy to get drawn into arguments as words spoken impulsively can hurt sensitive feelings. Take care traveling and working with tools/machinery. Moon enters Cancer at 10:43 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Large moves are likely today (probably up). May briefly weaken around midday and then start up again.

Friday, April 11, 2008

  • General Influences: Social relations can be somewhat constrained this morning, with the sensitive Moon challenging Venus in Aries. Feeling secure is important now. This evening’s energies favor cocooning on the couch instead of celebrating TGIF.
  • Stockmarket: Moderately up early in session. May turn choppy/mixed to lower in afternoon.

Weekend: April 12-13, 2008

  • Saturday: Family conversations may be challenging early this morning. People may want some down time to retreat and be alone. With the Moon opposing Jupiter late this morning, there’s a tendency to show off and spend too much for appearances sake. The First Quarter Moon occurs at 2:32 PM, then becomes VOC. There can be a conflict between personal and family needs. Projecting what you want to dream about before going to sleep this evening might provide an answer when you awaken tomorrow morning.
  • Sunday: The Moon enters Leo at 2:29 AM. The emotional atmosphere is livelier now. With Mercury in Aries challenging Jupiter in Capricorn, people are more than eager to share their opinions. Social gatherings this evening can be very entertaining.

* VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything where NO ACTION OR OUTCOME is desired, as actions taken during the VOC period may not turn out as planned.

Weekly Forecast: March 31 – April 6, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: Occult energies are dominant this week. That’s because Pluto, the planetary energy relating to all things hidden or secret, is stationary in the sky. Check out my post on Pluto retrograde for all the info. We are winding down the Last Quarter phase of the Pisces New Moon cycle in preparation for Saturday’s New Moon in Aries. (Check wallstreetweather.net for my upcoming post about this important lunar cycle.)
  • Stockmarket: With Pluto stationary, the overall financial theme for this week is DEBT and the fallout from opaque financial engineering. Since Mercury (communication) entered Pisces on March 14, the markets here and in the UK have been highly influenced by rumor and false information. The period of Mercury in Aries (April 2-17) may bring talk of recovery and “buy now.” It’s a time that requires quick thinking but not acting impulsively. Keep in mind that a lot of Fed and government speak this week can overtake current planetary energies. (See the Pluto retrograde post for some of the events sure to influence the market.)

Monday, March 31, 2008:

  • General Influences: The Capricorn Moon becomes VOC* at 12:54 AM until entering Aquarius at 9:34 AM. These hours are best suited for attending to routine matters rather than action-oriented activities. With the Moon in Aquarius for the next 2.5 days, people have a tendency to act more independently. What’s new and different rather than what’s tried and true is favored now.
  • Stockmarket: Moderately negative to choppy/mixed. May improve a bit in the afternoon.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008:

  • General Influences: It’s appropriate that the Moon is in Aquarius on April Fool’s Day as nothing is too crazy or offbeat for this sign. At least in the early morning, people are in good spirits about any jokes played on them.
  • Stockmarket: Mostly negative.

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

  • General Influences: Jotting down dreams, no matter how little you may recall of it, may prove insightful. Aquarius Moon becomes VOC at 5:14 AM until late this afternoon. Mercury enters Aries until April 17. Thoughts and communications tend to be more impulsive and impatient, so it’s especially important to pause and carefully think about what you’re committing to before diving in head first. With Mercury challenging Pluto today and tomorrow, guard against speaking or writing what may be regretted later (especially business-related communications), as it may be used against you. The Moon enters Pisces at 4:55 PM. Obligations to another or a greater than expected workload, may feel tiring and emotionally draining this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Down to choppy, with slight improvement in afternoon.

Thursday, April 3, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Moon in Pisces and the Mercury/Pluto influence, the trick is to sort out what information is real vs. what is rumor. Harmonious aspects this afternoon between the Moon and Mars provide an energy boost to get on your feet and exercise or finish up some chores.
  • Stockmarket: Negative.

Friday, April 4, 2008

  • General Influences: This may be a fairly quiet and mellow day until later this evening. Any social plans for tonight are best moved up to having an early dinner while the Moon is conjoining Venus before becoming VOC at 5:43 PM. You probably won’t need a watch to know the Moon’s entered Aries at 8:27 PM. With the Moon challenging Pluto, this is not the time to say or do something that would make another person jealous. Authority figures (such as the police) will not go easy on any actual or perceived violations.
  • Stockmarket: Down, may see improvement late in session.

Weekend: April 5-6, 2008

  • Saturday: This is a weekend for everyone in the household to (within reason) pursue their own agenda. People tend to be moody and impatient as the afternoon goes on. Take extra care driving and observe the speed limit. The Aries New Moon occurs at 11:55 PM. Tonight and tomorrow morning is the time to formulate what personal goals you want to achieve not only over the next month, but for the entire year.
  • Sunday: Venus enters Aries until April 30. The energy of love and attraction is not at its best here as Aries here can be too focused on their own needs and desires. Attractions to people or things can quickly fade. Venus challenges Pluto today. Love is about honesty, not manipulation. Aries Moon becomes VOC at 11:02 AM. Time to get grounded when the Moon enters Taurus at 9:20 PM.

*VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything where NO ACTION OR OUTCOME is desired, as actions taken during the VOC period may not turn out as planned.

Weekly Forecast: March 24 – 30, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

  • General Influences: Take advantage of this week’s upbeat and opportunistic influences!
  • Stockmarket: This week’s market action looks to be mostly to the upside, and may get a further boost from end of quarter “window dressing.” This may be temporary as markets look weaker going forward. Moves can be large and spike fast. If you want to get your price, put limit orders in ahead of time.

Monday, March 24, 2008

  • General Influences: Feelings are at the forefront with the three water signs of the zodiac emphasized today. The Moon in Scorpio harmonizes with Mars in the early afternoon, and Mercury and Venus conjoin in Pisces. This is an excellent time to take action and discuss any deep seated issues with those you hold dear as there’s a good interplay of love, compassion and sensitivity now. Writing and all forms of artistic and creative work easily flow, providing inspiration. Put on your favorite music, get on your feet and move to the groove!
  • Stockmarket: Mostly positive, may weaken a bit around 1:00 PM. One lunar month ago (when the Moon was in Scorpio), Mercury conjoined Venus in Aquarius. (See my post, “The Feel Good Factor” for more info.)

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

  • General Influences: The Scorpio Moon harmonizes with Mercury and Venus very early this morning continuing yesterday’s vibe of love and artistic inspiration. The Moon hooks up with Jupiter in Capricorn and Uranus in Pisces early this afternoon – a good time to do business over lunch. Jupiter and Uranus will form a favorable aspect that’s exact on Friday (see entry). Don’t be fooled by what you hear this evening. The Moon becomes VOC* at 8:36 PM; time to relax and unwind.
  • Stockmarket: Mostly positive. Likely to be strongest just after 1:00 PM. May weaken with indices mixed to mildly up late in session.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

  • General Influences: It’s best to work on routine matters until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 10:11 AM. People tend to be more optimistic and jovial when the Moon is in this sign. (Like so many words that emanate from astrology in our vocabulary, jovial is derived from Sagittarius ruled Jupiter.) However, with the Moon challenged by Saturn in Virgo this afternoon, these energies can get muted. There may be travel or work commitments that derail staying on schedule.
  • Stockmarket: Down, possibly on rumors and/or credit issues affecting financials and insurers. May see an improvement or turnaround just before the close.

Thursday, March 27, 2008

  • General Influences: The next two days are packed with optimistic and expansive energies. However, it’s important to accomplish important matters today and early tomorrow morning before the Moon is VOC. With Mercury and Jupiter aligned, today is a great opportunity to promote your product/service and get agreements/sales completed today! Mercury (thoughts/communications) is conjoining Uranus. Inspiration comes from where you least expect it. As a famous commercial says, “Think outside the bun!” Taking a unique approach today (and to doing business) is likely to score points. Shocking secrets may be revealed in the news today.
  • Stockmarket: The Jupiter/Uranus aspects today and tomorrow are usually a bullish signal. Whether up or down, these planetary energies tend to bring large (Jupiter) price spikes (Uranus).

Friday, March 28, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Moon becoming VOC at 9:21 AM until late this evening, aspects between Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus create a party atmosphere. People tend to be in a “life is just one big adventure” kind of mood. Financial gains are possible, but there’s also a tendency to blow the budget. Impulse buys may be regretted later. Sudden romantic attractions may turn out to be a fantasy. Jupiter/Uranus provides a wonderful opportunity to realistically formulate the steps needed to make dreams into reality. (Jupiter and Uranus align again on May 21 and November 13, but today’s alignment carries the most powerful energies for personal achievement.) Time to clean up from partying when the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:43 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Positive bias, but volatility may increase.

Weekend: March 29-30, 2008

  • Saturday: The Last Quarter Moon occurs at 5:47 PM. From now until just before April 5 is the time to complete what was begun at the March 7 New Moon. Aspects between the Moon, Sun, and Mars this evening/early tomorrow morning can cause tempers to flare and people to act too quick for their own good (and safety). Aggressive acts/military action is heightened.
  • Sunday: With the Capricorn Moon aspecting Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus, today is a good time for social gatherings to conduct business.

Weekly Forecast: March 17 – 23, 2008

All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Monday, March 17, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon in Leo may be ready to party, but with Mercury in Pisces opposing Saturn in Virgo, a more somber environment prevails. Be careful what you say to superiors/authority figures and obey all rules. Analyze what you hear and read as rumors and false information are being disseminated from the most “authoritative” sources.
  • Stockmarket: Talk of rumors and fear as described above, will weigh down the market.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

  • General Influences: Mind and body are ready for action early this morning with Mercury harmonizing with Mars in Cancer. Accomplish your most important work and meetings in the morning, as intentions can become misunderstood and confusing by afternoon. Leo Moon becomes VOC* at 2:39 PM for the rest of the day.
  • Stockmarket: Likely to be down on reports of further write downs projected or to be taken. Improving conditions around 2:30 PM. The manipulation of the Friday’s CPI paved the way for the FOMC to continue to act irresponsibly by lowering interest rates, further affecting the Administration’s “strong dollar policy.” Lower interest rates help the banks, but do nothing to help the crisis in confidence over collateral. Lower interest rates ensure that every stimulus check will be redeemed for groceries and gas.

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon enters Virgo at 3:25 AM. With the Moon conjoining Saturn this morning, it’s time to deal with all the details. People tend to be more serious and nitpicky now. The afternoon is a good time to clean up your cube or home. The Moon opposing Mercury and Venus late this afternoon into the early evening does not favor social interactions. Edit your thoughts before speaking your mind as people can be extra sensitive now.
  • Stockmarket: Market mostly up in the morning. May weaken and turn negative around 1:30 PM, improving at the close.

Thursday, March 20, 2008

  • General Influences: The Sun enters Aries (Vernal Equinox) at 1:49 AM until April 19. Now is the time to focus on your personal goals and spring into action! Accomplish business transactions during midday to early afternoon. An unexpected event later this afternoon may change or disrupt scheduled plans. Virgo Moon becomes VOC at 3:28 PM until midday tomorrow.
  • Stockmarket: Things could get volatile with large price swings, with quadruple options expiration today. Merger/takeover talk could swing the market into positive territory for the close. However, the Sun/Pluto influence described below could create geopolitical concerns that make investors too nervous to hold positions over the long weekend.

Friday, March 21, 2008

  • General Influences: Things can get pretty intense today with the Aries Sun challenging Pluto in Capricorn as well as the Full Moon. This is a power clash of wills. The Moon enters Libra at 11:45 AM. With the Full Moon also challenging Mars (Aries’ ruler), it can be quite a challenge to create balance and harmony in personal, domestic, relationships, and career matters.
  • Stockmarket: Markets closed for Good Friday holiday.

Weekend: March 22-23, 2008

  • Saturday: Yesterday’s high octane atmosphere will gradually wane as the day progresses. The Moon in Libra is the time to focus on inner and outer beauty. When the Moon is in Libra, we greatly appreciate how much we enjoy being with a romantic partner or those we hold dear.
  • Sunday: The Moon harmonizing with Neptune this morning creates a compassionate and meditative mood, an appropriate influence as many celebrate Easter today. Libra Moon becomes VOC at 8:42 AM, so the remainder of the day is fairly mellow. The Moon enters Scorpio at 10:06 PM.

Weekly Forecast: March 10 – 16, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

  • General Influences: Venus, the planetary energy of love and attraction, enters Pisces Wednesday evening until April 6, followed by Mercury (communications) on Friday evening (until April 2). This time period facilitates creative and intuitive flow, kindness and compassion. However, there can be too much of a tendency to see life through rose-colored glasses and hold on to false beliefs and values. For more information on current and upcoming planetary energies, please see the Pisces New Moon Cycle Parts I and II.
  • Stockmarket: Mercury and Venus in Pisces can create illusions about the state of the financial markets. The market behaves as if the sky is falling, yet the DJIA is less than 2300 points away from its record high last October. Rumors and false information are put out to incite buying and short covering, boosting prices high enough to sell shares. Pisces is ruled by Neptune which rules oil. Although Uranus is associated with fast and sharp price spikes in either direction, it is most likely that oil will continue to climb and make new highs at the end of the month when Mercury and Venus align with Uranus in Pisces.

Monday, March 10, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Aries Moon VOC* from 7:09 AM until entering Taurus at 12:14 PM, things get off to a slow start. Use the morning to get organized and for routine matters. The afternoon to early evening hours are good for dealing with financial matters. If you only review your financial assets once a month, the Moon in the sign of the banker is the time to do it.
  • Stockmarket: This could be another volatile day of market moves in either direction. The market may be strongest in the early afternoon. Market likely to get more choppy and mildly reverse direction near the close.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

  • General Influences: This is a good day to expand your horizons, particularly in business dealings. Quiet reflection or doing things you consider relaxing facilitates intuition this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/fluctuating conditions, but with a positive bias.

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

  • General Influences: It may help to wake up a bit early this morning. Rushing and/or eating breakfast on the go will stress nerves. With the Taurus Moon challenging Mercury and Venus this morning and early this afternoon, this is not a great time for selling or social interactions. People tend be stubborn and set in their ideas and values. Taurus Moon becomes VOC at 1:26 PM. The energies become more flexible when the Moon enters Gemini at 1:54 PM. All that multitasking that people especially seem to do under the Gemini Moon can get a bit tiring, especially when the Moon challenges Saturn early this evening. Pace yourself, and then get some R&R.
  • Stockmarket: Upward bound, may begin to lose momentum approaching 2:00 PM.

Thursday, March 13, 2008

  • General Influences: Taking a creative approach to work today will not only be more personally fulfilling, but may get noticed by the higher ups. People may tend to get a bit irritable if they don’t get some “space” this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Market may be up early in session, but declines as day progresses.

Friday, March 14, 2008

  • General Influences: The First Quarter Moon occurs at 6:46 AM. Mars and Saturn provide a good opportunity today for getting some serious work done on the home front as well as at the office. If you can, it’s a good day to work from home. That way you can call or get together with a friend later in the afternoon. Meetings go well too. Gemini Moon becomes VOC at 4:23 PM. Moon enters homebound Cancer at 4:37 PM. Between now and Sunday night, 6 planets are in the emotional water element. Taking a soak in the tub or exchanging foot massages with a loved one, can be a soothing way to end the day. Staying up late tonight could prove irritating, and it may be more difficult to get to sleep.
  • Stockmarket: Negative. (Geopolitical events may influence market behavior). Market may improve at the close.

Weekend: March 15-16, 2008

  • Saturday: This is a good day to spend time with family. If you need to have a “deep” conversation with someone, this morning is a good time to do it. Guard against being critical or making too many demands of a loved one this afternoon, as you are likely to get the cold shoulder.
  • Sunday: Love may become an out of body experience as Venus and Mars harmonize early this morning. Even macho men tend to get emotional and mushy now. The Pisces Sun and Cancer Moon continue the harmonious vibe into the afternoon. Cancer Moon becomes VOC at 2:58 PM. Moon enters Leo at 9:04 PM to prep for the drama of the new week.

Weekly Forecast: March 3 - March 9, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Time.

  • General Influences: The week starts out lackluster, but builds in action, intensity, and unpredictability as it progresses.
  • Stockmarket: The market will probably become more volatile and make large moves in either direction, but the overall trend is lower. Look for the Federal Reserve to come under fire beginning this week for their misguided monetary policy. The Fed could lower rates back to Greenspan’s 1%, yet mortgage rates will continue to rise. With tighter lending requirements, low rates lack the magic this time around.

Monday, March 3, 2008

  • General Influences: The Capricorn Moon becomes VOC* at 1:16 AM until entering Aquarius at 11:24 PM tonight. Today is good for accomplishing routine matters and getting prepared for the rest of the week’s action.
  • Stockmarket: Lackluster, trades in a narrow range. Lighter volume may keep it in mildly positive territory.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

  • General Influences: When the Moon is in Aquarius, people tend to gravitate toward what’s new and different. There’s a greater need for emotional independence now. Mars re-enters Cancer until May 9. I say “re-entered” because Mars, the planet of energy and action, traveled down this road before from September 28 – December 31, 2007. With Mars in Cancer, action and attention focuses on home and security matters.
  • Stockmarket: Declines going into the close.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Aquarius Moon hooking up with Mercury, Venus, and Neptune today, it’s easy to see how everyone and everything are connected. People are sociable and show their more compassionate side today. It’s a good day to call or get together with a friend. Aquarius Moon becomes VOC at 4:46 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/mixed indices tend toward positive bias.

Thursday, March 6, 2008

  • General Influences: Moon enters Pisces at 5:53 AM. Energies early this morning are beneficial for tackling domestic odds ‘n ends or exercising. The boss or a “higher ranking” coworker may be critical or give out an additional assignment. With the Sun in Pisces favorably aspecting Jupiter in Capricorn, extra work will not go unnoticed. Venus and Neptune conjoin in Aquarius this evening. There’s a tendency to fantasize about the ideal love.
  • Stockmarket: Market starts selling off in the afternoon. Financial rumors abound.

Friday, March 7, 2008

  • General Influences: Mars in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn, creating a volatile atmosphere. Be cautious driving and dealing with others today. This alignment previously occurred on September 21, 2007 and January 2, 2008 (in Gemini/Sagittarius). Their final lineup brings the full impact of the housing/credit crisis. It’s the people versus the government and corporate hierarchies. The public should find out over the next few days and weeks how much every aspect of our lives are being spied on. Nuclear issues will likely be prominent in the news. The Pisces New Moon occurs at 12:14 PM. With the Sun and Moon conjoining Uranus, it’s time to break free from false beliefs and illusions. “Expect the unexpected” should be the motto at least through the weekend. The weather may be pretty wacky too. (NOTE: Check back early this week for my detailed New Moon cycle post.) Pisces Moon becomes VOC at 2:03 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Volatile. Large swings in either direction.

Weekend: March 8-9, 2008

  • Saturday: Life moves much faster when the Moon enters Aries at 9:23 AM. There’s a tendency to act more impulsive and aggressive. A domestic conflict may arise later this morning. The Sun conjoining Uranus in Pisces stirs up rebellion and revolution, as well as innovation.
  • Sunday: Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 AM. Set clocks forward one hour. Dreams may be vivid and inspirational with Mercury conjoining Neptune in Aquarius. Creative work flows. (Mercury previously conjoined Neptune on January 2 and February 22.) Guard against impulsive eating, spending, and boasting.

Weekly Forecast: February 25 – March 2, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST).

  • General Influences: This week is good for finishing up odds ‘n ends and projects begun over the last month.
  • Stockmarket: CNBC’s Charlie Gasparino reported Friday afternoon there may be a potential deal for a consortium of banks to inject capital into bond insurer Ambac (ABK). Gasparino said this may happen either Monday or Tuesday. I think an announcement is likely later Tuesday as ABK looks up then into Wednesday.

Monday, February 25, 2008

  • General Influences: Get up and get moving early with Mars in Gemini harmonizing with the Moon in Libra. Accomplish action-oriented tasks before 8:35 AM as the Moon is VOC* between then and entering Scorpio at 1:06 PM. The afternoon favors work that requires in depth analysis and research.
  • Stockmarket: Ranges from choppy/lackluster and moderately up to descending lower by mid-afternoon.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

  • General Influences: It may be best to keep person to person and telephone interactions to a minimum today and opt for any type of written communication sent out in the afternoon to evening hours. Whatever you need to say, make sure it is stated as politely and diplomatically as possible.
  • Stockmarket: Positive bias, but may weaken and hit lows in late morning before an afternoon turnaround.

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

  • General Influences: There may be some confusion or possible misunderstanding this morning. Scorpio Moon becomes VOC at 9:54 AM for the rest of the day. Now is the time to catch up on all those routine matters that tend to get pushed aside. Example: Scorpio rules insurance, so this would be a good time to review coverage and get information, but wait until the VOC period is over to make any changes.
  • Stockmarket: Down on inflation and/or higher oil, as well as concerns about the financial alchemy the market is all too familiar with.

Thursday, February 28, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:22 AM. The energies are more upbeat (and the noise volume higher), when the Moon is in Sagittarius. However, with the Moon challenging Saturn this morning, the work load may feel heavy. The Last Quarter Moon (Moon squares the Sun in Pisces), occurs at 9:18 PM. It’s a good time to tune into your intuition (your personal philosophy), and tune out the dogma.
  • Stockmarket: Market moves higher in late morning.

Friday, February 29, 2008

  • General Influences: There may be an unexpected disruption or surprise this afternoon. (Or perhaps a feeling of rebelliousness if the Friday party can’t get started early.) Social gatherings or watching a movie may be especially enjoyable this evening.
  • Stockmarket: Market strongest around 2:00 PM.

Weekend: March 1-2, 2008

  • Saturday: Be calm and cautious this morning as people can tend to be a bit temperamental and drive more aggressively. Sagittarius Moon becomes VOC at 11:54 AM. Things become more serious when the Moon enters Capricorn at 1:33 PM. Tonight’s energies are more attuned to taking care of personal business matters than entertainment.
  • Sunday: The energies are fairly mellow today. With the Moon aligned with Jupiter this evening, there’s a lot to wrap up as well as plan for the new week ahead.

Weekly Forecast: February 18 – 24, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences/All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST)

  • General Influences: Issues that have been stagnant in the last few weeks may get back in motion later this week as Mercury retrograde comes to an end tonight. The Lunar Eclipse occurs on Wednesday.
  • Stockmarket: The down times in the market this week will be stronger than the up times indicated. Fears about what’s really on the balance sheets of the financials will continue to weigh on the market. The Lunar Eclipse brings the realization that intervention to “rescue” those entities that each government agency favors is not the panacea it initially appeared to be. Saturn dominating the eclipse reminds us that everything takes time to resolve.
Monday, February 18, 2008
  • General Influences: Mercury is ending its retrograde cycle begun on January 28. Communications and travel may be still be a bit challenging for the next couple of days until the winged messenger begins moving forward. The week begins with the Moon VOC* in Cancer until early afternoon. Home and family are in focus. This morning can be a good time to catch up with things around the house. Once the Moon enters Leo at 1:51 PM, the energy shifts to leisure activities. A conflict may arise with a loved one late this afternoon.
  • Stockmarket: The market is closed for President’s Day, but that is not stopping powerful financial and government participants from stirring the pot. During the MLK holiday last month, NY insurance commissioner Dinallo asked Buffett to come up with a plan to back stop the municipal book of the monoline insurers to keep their AAA rating. Bernanke was in the office watching European markets fall; by the end of the day the FOMC decided to make an emergency rate cut. Since the MLK holiday, the Fed has cut interest rates 1.25%. The three major indices are slightly lower, and the 10 year bond has slightly edged up.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

  • General Influences: The Sun enters Pisces until March 20. Self-expression becomes more empathetic and sensitive. Ideas and actions are more driven by intuition. There’s a greater tendency to be more creative now. The Sun and Pluto in Capricorn provide an opportunity to bring these qualities to the surface. The Leo Moon adds a boost of confidence.
  • Stockmarket: Up, may peak out around 2:00 PM.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

  • General Influences: If the energy seems a bit overcharged with people running all around, chalk it up to the Virgo Lunar Eclipse tonight. The Leo Moon becomes VOC at 12:53 PM until entering Virgo at 7:06 PM. These VOC hours are good for routine matters (or goofing off), rather than taking action. The Lunar Eclipse at 10:30 PM is a “supercharged” Full Moon. With the Moon in Virgo conjoined with Saturn, anything that has been neglected will get your full attention. It’s about doing more with less. Since the Sun and Moon are opposing one another, the need for balance is highlighted. Virgo relates to health, diet, daily routine, work and coworkers. Pisces is inspiration, fantasy, dreams, and compassion. On an economic level, there may be food or medical supply shortages, and higher inflation.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy to moderately positive.

Thursday, February 21, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Moon in Virgo today and tomorrow and decreasing in light, now is a good time to clean up any bad dietary habits. The Virgo Moon is good motivation for accomplishing all the stuff most people prefer to postpone.
  • Stockmarket: Negative.

Friday, February 22, 2008

  • General Influences: Today is a good time to work on projects requiring a high level of detail, rather than wasting time gossiping or criticizing. People tend to act more aggressively this evening, so take extra care driving. Virgo Moon becomes VOC at 9:15 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy to moderately positive. May weaken in late morning and turn down.

Weekend: February 23-24, 2008

  • Saturday: The Moon enters Libra at 2:45 AM. In Libra, there’s a greater need to reach out to others and cultivate beauty and refinement. Social gatherings or spending time with a loved one is particularly enjoyable today.
  • Sunday: The Sun in Pisces opposes Saturn in Virgo. Physically, this can be a low energy aspect. Life may seem limiting and harsh. It may be time to face a difficult issue head on assisted by the emotional support of another. A more hopeful feeling prevails this evening.

*VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything were NO ACTION OR OUTCOME is desired. “Nothing will come of it!”

Summary of This Week’s Influences

  • General Influences: Mercury is retrograde until February 18; it may be better to postpone making major decisions until later this month. Venus in Capricorn on Valentine’s Day emphasizes traditional gifts and gestures. Venus in this sign is about quality rather than quantity. Anything tacky is out! Above all, Venus in Capricorn is practical. If money is tight, give that someone special your time and attention!
  • Stockmarket: See each day’s entry for details.

Monday, February 11, 2008

  • General Influences: There’s a need for speed with the Moon in Aries today. People tend to act more impulsively now. Work commitments may postpone after work plans. An evening walk or workout can clear the head. Aries Moon becomes VOC at 8:00 PM.*
  • Stockmarket: This may be “monoline Monday” as the bond insurers continue to be a big financial focus weighing on the market (Tuesday too). Oil and inflation talk could be another factor keeping the market down at least for most of the day. Market shows improvement going into the close.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

  • General Influences: The Moon enters Taurus at 4:34 AM. Now there’s a need to do things at a slower, more methodical pace. This afternoon is a good time to work on budgets and balance sheets. • Stockmarket: Market’s best performance may occur in the morning to mid-afternoon.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

  • General Influences: Pay attention to your intuition this morning, particularly concerning financial matters. There may be a misunderstanding with a friend later this afternoon. The
First Quarter Moon occurs at 10:33 PM. Couples may want to start celebrating Valentine’s Day tonight as the Taurus Moon harmonizes with Venus in Capricorn just after midnight.
  • Stockmarket: Negative sentiment. Banks may announce further writedowns.

Thursday, February 14, 2008

  • General Influences: Happy Valentine’s Day! Taurus Moon becomes VOC at 12:05 AM. Moon enters Gemini at 7:19 AM. There’s lots of social interaction going on today as the
Sun in Aquarius harmonizes with Mars in Gemini. Physical energies are high. A schedule snafu or work situation may interfere with early evening plans. The late evening is a good time for writing and sending emails.
  • Stockmarket: Market up at least for the morning on the belief the Fed will have an intermeeting rate cut.

Friday, February 15, 2008

  • General Influences: It’s important to stay focused on one thing at a time today to avoid potential accidents. An early afternoon disruption may necessitate a schedule change. Escaping with a good book or going to a movie with friends this evening may be especially enjoyable.
  • Stockmarket: Market may be choppy and volatile, but possible talk of more stimulus or rescue plans may improve the market in early afternoon.

Weekend: February 16-17, 2008

  • Saturday: The Moon becomes VOC at 5:17 AM. Moon enters home-oriented Cancer at 10:12 AM.
  • Sunday: Venus enters Aquarius this morning until March 12. People are attracted to what’s new and different. Relationships require a lot of freedom. Unusual alliances may form during this time. There may be luck in finding something that had become lost in the home today. Cancer Moon becomes VOC at 4:13 PM.

*VOC (Void-of-Course) = When the Moon (our emotional barometer) does not form any relationship to a planet before entering a new zodiacal sign. This time period is best suited for anything where NO ACTION OR OUTCOME is desired. “Nothing will come of it!”

Weekly Forecast: February 4 – 10, 2008

Summary of This Week’s Influences

  • General Influences: This week’s main event is Wednesday’s New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Aquarius.
The time between the solar and lunar eclipses, along with Mercury retrograde through February 18, can be frustrating if you’re trying to take important actions. This time period is best suited for gathering and reviewing what you need to do before moving forward.
  • Stockmarket: Pretty much more of the same this week; see each day’s entry.

Monday, February 4, 2008
  • General Influences: The workweek begins with the Moon in Capricorn. The morning and early afternoon is a good time to discuss your work with superiors. Capricorn Moon becomes VOC* at 1:20 PM until tomorrow afternoon.
  • Stockmarket: The market may be hashing over deal making possibilities. However, it is still likely to be volatile with large swings in either (or both!) directions. The usual concerns related to bond insurers and bad debt will likely be a contributing factor.

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

  • General Influences: A more conservative and staid atmosphere gives way to the futuristic energies of the Moon entering Aquarius at 2:10 PM. Just as I’m about to write this, that old Fifth Dimension song “Aquarius” begins playing on the radio! All I’ve got to say is the song’s lyricist did not know a lot about astrology because there’s not going to peace among the planets when Jupiter aligns with Mars; that would indicate expanding war and military action! As far as the Age of Aquarius goes, if we start making major structural changes now we might get there by 2020 at the earliest. J When the Moon is in Aquarius, being a bit quirky and eccentric is in.
  • Stockmarket: Market strongest in the morning.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

  • General Influences: With the Sun conjoining Mercury early this afternoon, there may be news that revises or reverses what had been previously reported. A classic example would be news about NASA as the Solar eclipse is challenging its Moon (public’s perception of the space agency). Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to liftoff tomorrow at 2:45 PM - maybe. Socializing with friends or group activities can be very enjoyable this evening. The New Moon occurs at 10:44 PM.
  • Stockmarket: Choppy/mixed; positive bias.

Summary of This Week’s Influences

  • General Influences: Fasten your seatbelts; we may be in for a rollercoaster ride of shocks and strange happenings this week! Take a deep breath, slowly exhale, and let the prefix RE become your mantra for the next three weeks of Mercury retrograde. Mars starts marching forward on Wednesday, the day of the Last Quarter Moon. (Planets do not really move backward, but appear to from Earth’s vantage point.)
  • Stockmarket: When Mercury is retrograde (Jan 28-Feb 18), market patterns can be difficult to decipher.

  • General Influences: The Last Quarter Moon occurs at 12:03 AM. With the Moon in the waning cycle and Mercury retrograde, late this evening would be a good time to shed anything that no longer works or is detrimental to your well being. Early afternoon may bring new solutions to old problems. It favors acting on intuition. Mars stations and will start moving forward again. Mars has been retrograde since November 15, 2007. It is currently in Gemini – Mercury’s sign. The next three weeks are best suited for taking action involving past matters rather than starting something new.
  • Stockmarket: Mostly positive. Market may peak around 2:00 PM. Becomes more volatile towards the close. Mercury retrograde would give the FOMC the opportunity to do a rate reversal to atone for their impulsive actions on January 22. The SocGen situation left no doubt that the Fed considers propping up the stockmarket to be the key element of its growth mandate. (Never mind that inflation is growing at a faster clip.)
