Scorpio New Moon Cycle: October 28 – November 27, 2008

The word month is derived from the Moon. The new month actually begins when the Sun and Moon are conjoined. This is the New Moon, a time of new beginnings.

The Scorpio New Moon occurs on October 28 at 7:14 PM EDT. Scorpio is ruled by Mars (desire for action) and Pluto (transformation). Scorpio rules all those deep seated issues that most people tend to become uncomfortable talking honestly about: intimacy, death, taxes, shared assets/resources, debt/lending, insurance, wills/legacies. Since these issues tend to bring forth the most intense emotions in people, it’s easier to keep things hidden under the surface. Or if these issues are above the surface, they’re presented in such a way that is deemed acceptable to society at large. The celebration of Halloween each year by donning costumes and trick or treating on the “night of the living dead” acknowledges the connection between the “living” and the “dead.” Just as nature appears to be dying at this time of the year, by Spring we see that what appeared dead has been transformed and reborn as a new cycle of life begins again.

Mars has been in Scorpio since October 4 bringing many of these issues to the surface in heated debate, from government programs to take on corporate America’s bad debt, to the presidential candidates focusing on taxes and health insurance. The Scorpio New Moon cycle is the time to make transformative changes to your life. Favorable aspects this week between Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus provide the courage and determination to help you work through challenges. Neptune, the planetary energy of inspiration and illusion, will be extra strong October 31 to November 4 as the planet moves direct.* Mars gearing up to challenge Neptune on November 4, has the potential to dredge up secrets, deception and possible scandal, but at a higher level provides the willpower to take action to manifest our highest ideals.

Planetary influences at the Scorpio New Moon influence the entire cycle. The global economic turmoil that has accelerated since the Virgo New Moon cycle will reach its first exact meeting on Election Day when Saturn in Virgo will oppose Uranus in Pisces. This is the status quo (Saturn) vs. major change (Uranus) that will transform corporate and government structures (Pluto about to re-enter Capricorn on November 26).

In the USA, the New Moon, Mars, and Mercury (communication) are in the area of the horoscope representing the workforce, military, and matters relating to health and daily living. As the politicians would phrase it, “pocketbook” issues and the concerns of the “working class” are what are on the nation’s mind. People are concerned about their jobs, having to make do with less, debt, and health care. A prominent alliance associated with the Administration breaks up. This could be due to some type of false information or misrepresentation on the Administration’s part. Even though they anticipate it, the White House, GOP, and Wall Street will react in shock and disbelief over Obama winning the White House and the Democrats gaining complete control of Congress.

“Hotspots” indicate areas in the US and the world where major news events are more likely to occur. USA Hotspots: Washington, Oregon, CALIFORNIA (Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles), Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas (San Antonio, Dallas, Houston), New Orleans, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Florida (Miami). The First Quarter Moon, the midpoint between the New and Full Moon, occurs on November 5 at 11:03 PM EST. The Moon and Neptune in Aquarius challenge the Sun in Scorpio. The most difficult changes we’re forced to make are usually the ones that in the long run help us to achieve our long term objectives. Live in the present with an eye on the future rather than clinging to the past because it is familiar. In the USA, the stock market continues on a downward trend. Home and security issues are at the center of the nation’s focus. There could be a diplomatic tussle over monetary policy. USA Hotspots: CALIFORNIA (San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles), Idaho, Nevada, Maine, central New York, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina. World Hotspots: Baja California, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina. Paris, Greece, RUSSIA (St. Petersburg, Moscow), Belarus, Ukraine, TURKEY. We’ve reached half-time in the lunar cycle at the Full Moon on November 13 at 1:17 AM EST. If you want to announce or promote something to receive maximum attention, this is the time to do it! Emotions run high like the tides, which will be higher than normal as the Moon is perigee (closest to the Earth now). The Moon in Taurus opposes the Sun and Mars conjoined in Scorpio; both are challenged by Neptune in Aquarius. The emphasis is on our emotional issues surrounding money and personal values and our relationship with those who we share our resources with or have a financial obligation to. Neptune’s energy to the Full Moon reflects a growing interest in fiscal policies that equally benefit as many people as possible.

In the USA, the focus is on communication and transportation issues, both of which could face disruptions or transportation accidents which could be caused by severe storms. There could be a health outbreak from an imported food, drug, or cosmetic item. Inflation rises. A modest effort could begin to be made by the Administration to modify mortgages to avoid foreclosure after media reports about the rise in bankruptcies. USA Hotspots: VERMONT, MASSACHUSETTS (Boston), Arkansas, Louisiana (New Orleans), Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, TEXAS, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado (Denver), New Mexico, Phoenix. World Hotspots: Alberta (Edmonton, Calgary), MEXICO (Mexico City), Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, BRAZIL, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay. Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia (Broome).

Now the Moon is decreasing in light – a time to review and reflect. The Last Quarter Moon occurs on November 19 at 4:31 PM EST. The Moon in Leo challenges the Sun, Mercury, and Mars. All this intense energy seeks emotional release through leisure and recreational activities. In the USA, the focus is on the national debt and loans, and working with other nations on financial market regulation. USA Hotspots: CALIFORNIA (esp. Los Angeles and southern CA), Montana, IDAHO, Nevada, Utah, Phoenix, New Orleans, New England states, New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Miami. Stockholm, Denmark, Germany, RUSSIA (St. Petersburg, Moscow), Ukraine, TURKEY, Syria, Israel, Egypt, east African nations, IRAN, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Koreas, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia (Broome, Canberra), Tasmania.
