Cancer New Moon Cycle (July 2 – August 1, 2008)

The word month is derived from the Moon. The new month actually begins when the Sun and Moon are conjoined. This is the New Moon, a time of new beginnings.

The Cancer New Moon occurs on July 2 at 10:19 PM EDT. The Moon is “at home” in Cancer. The Moon and Cancer represent our primal emotional instincts and needs. Like its symbol the crab that carries its “home” on its back, Cancer associates physical security with emotional security. The Moon and Cancer represent the general public, especially women. Cancer is about the need to nurture and be nurtured; it rules the breasts and stomach. Emotions fluctuate with the zodiacal sign changes the Moon makes about every 2.5 days in a cycle that waxes and wanes. Cancer relates to one’s roots, which makes this energy sentimental and nationalistic.

Emotional and physical housekeeping are in order during this New Moon Cycle. With the New Moon opposing Jupiter in Capricorn, a staycation is the new family adventure. And with Venus in Cancer as well, being at home can be particularly enjoyable. So is viewing the Moon and following its cycle. The Moon is closest to Earth now (perigee), greatly intensifying the electromagnetic charge in the atmosphere. Severe weather conditions, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, thunderstorms, and earthquakes, are likely. The Moon will exert a stronger gravitational pull on the tides now and under the Cancer Moon, people can feel extra emotionally sensitive. There are many challenging planetary aspects that occur during this New Moon cycle. Security emanates from within.

The Moon/Cancer rules food. Mars and Saturn conjoined in Virgo during this cycle place further pressure on the cost, supply, and safety of food. In the USA, it appears that farmers and homeowners could get some major aid from Congress and the Administration. Severe storms could cause extensive property damage. Crop yields will be much lower than expected. The Midwest is particularly vulnerable for the entire Moon cycle. A sharp decline in property values could speed up foreclosures. A faith-based charity with strong political connections could be found to be enriching itself. Diplomatic efforts could face roadblocks. USA Hotspots: Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California (San Francisco & northern CA). Wisconsin, Minnesota, Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado (Denver), Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas. World Hot Spots: Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Brazil. Norway (Oslo), Amsterdam, Germany, Switzerland, Italy (Naples), Poland (Warsaw), Romania (Bucharest). From the July 2 New Moon to the July 18 Full Moon, the Moon is increasing in light. This is the time to start projects and make changes to be completed by the end of the cycle.

The First Quarter Moon occurs on July 10 at 12:35 AM EDT. The Moon in Libra challenges the Cancer Sun and Jupiter. Partners and close relationships provide emotional balance to help juggle home and professional responsibilities. In the USA, the public is angry and frustrated, probably over high food and transportation costs. Transportation disruptions or accidents are possible. There could be delays and problems with shipments that have massive repercussions. USA Hotspots: The Midwest is likely to face the most problems and severe weather conditions. Wisconsin (Milwaukee), Illinois (Chicago), western Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee. Louisiana, Alabama/Mississippi border, and into the Gulf of Mexico. We’ve reached half-time in the lunar cycle at the Full Moon on July 18, 2008 at 3:59 AM EDT. If you want to announce or promote something to receive maximum attention, this is the time to do it! Emotions run high like the tides. The Sun in Cancer opposes the Moon in Capricorn, highlighting home and professional matters. In the USA, the Full Moon illuminates personal and shared assets and debt. The Moon conjoins the USA’s natal Pluto, representing the massive amount of debt the public has accumulated. Economic conditions are fluctuating and still highly tied to real estate and its related financial fallout. The public is feeling insecure about their home situation. Mercury conjoins the USA’s Sun, revealing startling information about government activities. USA Hotspots: The Full Moon affects Washington, Oregon, California (Los Angeles), Nevada. Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana (New Orleans), and into the Gulf of Mexico. The Atlantic coast, from southeast Florida through New York (and New York City), could experience a severe storm or possible hurricane, crop problems, and declining property values. Now the Moon is decreasing in light – a time to review and reflect. The Last Quarter Moon occurs in Taurus on July 25 at 2:42 PM EDT. It’s time to get real about finances and investing instead of frivolous spending and speculating (Sun in Leo). In the USA, the Administration will likely seek more money for military expansion abroad. Severe storms cause more property and agriculture damage.
