Uranus in Pisces: 2003 – 2011

Uranus is the planetary energy of revolutionary change, as it was discovered* between the American and French Revolutions. Known as the great awakener, its energy seeks to break up structures that have outlived their usefulness in order to establish something new.

The motto of Uranus is “expect the unexpected.” Uranus brings shocks, surprises, and disruptions that are meant to wake us up and shake us out of our rut. Uranus energy represents freedom, independence and equality. From what’s unique and trendy to the eccentric and the rebel, Uranus dares to be different.

Uranus is futuristic; it rules inventions and science. Electricity, electronics, and technology are ruled by Uranus. “Freaky” conditions and atmospheric patterns such as earthquakes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and wind gusts, are represented by Uranus. In the stock market, Uranus relates to sharp price spikes in either direction. Trends that develop during the seven year cycle Uranus takes to transit one zodiacal sign tend to skyrocket and crash before Uranus enters the next sign.

Uranus rules Aquarius. The planet takes 84 Earth years to make a complete cycle around the Sun. True to its eccentric nature, Uranus orbits sideways at a 98 degree tilt.

Uranus in Pisces: March 11 – September 16, 2003; December 31, 2003 – May 29, 2010; August 15, 2010 – March 13, 2011. (Prior cycle: Apr 2 – Aug 17, 1919; Jan 23, 1920 – Mar 31, 1927; Nov 5, 1927 – Jan 14, 1928.)

The purpose of Uranus in Pisces is to break up and dissolve false and outmoded beliefs and propaganda. This transit is a wakeup call to break free from our addictions and illusions which are ruled by Pisces and its planetary ruler Neptune. Pisces rules oil and chemicals, which have skyrocketed since 2003. Both transits of Uranus in Pisces saw a real estate boom and bust in Florida, a state with its natal Sun in Pisces. The Iraq war began less than two weeks after Uranus entered Pisces. This is a war based on FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real).

Over the next two years, Saturn in Virgo will make a series of oppositions to Uranus, shaking up and reforming the day to day aspects of our lives, our work, and healthcare.

*Uranus was discovered by William Herschel on March 13, 1781 at 10:12 PM GMT in Bath, England.
