Mercury and the Sun in Capricorn (December 20, 2007 – January 20, 2008)

Mercury (communications) is in Capricorn December 20 – January 7. People tend to express themselves more cautiously. Conversations take on a more serious tone. During the time the Sun (self-identity) is here (December 22 – January 20), the focus is on career objectives and/or how you wish to make your mark in the world.

As a cardinal (action oriented) earth sign, Capricorn excels at taking a leadership role in business. Capricorn values quality over quantity and wants things that will endure the test of time. “What you sow, you shall reap” could surely be Capricorn’s motto.

The “as above, so below” principle of astrology is easily evident at the turning over to a new year. The world becomes very conscious of time, which is what Capricorn and its ruler Saturn (“Father Time”) represent. It’s that time of year to purchase/organize new calendars and appointment books. Capricorn/Saturn is also known as the “taskmaster”, making New Year’s resolutions and goals. With Jupiter also in Capricorn and Saturn in Virgo (another earth sign), many will set the bar very high in 2008 for what they want to achieve. Many will realize by choice or necessity that less can actually be more.
